Bridgwater Preview

The dreamed-of scenario for this away game in the West Country, originally Rugby’s last of the season, was for the Lions to storm to victory, collecting five points against the relentless defence of the home side, so at the last possible moment stealing top place in the league table from London Scottish. However, ‘The best laid plans of mice and men…etc’.

Due to the postponement of earlier fixtures, the game at Bridgwater is now not the last of the season for the Rugby Lions. The last game will now be against Dings Crusaders on 25th April.

In their six games since beating Havant at Webb Ellis Road on February 21st, Rugby have failed to win on each occasion, their best result being a drawn game at Henley. Although the season is all but over and the Lions are safe from relegation, to end it on a on a down-beat note would seem to be counter-productive with respect to the anticipated ebullient launch of the 2009/10 campaign.

Although the Lions have lost twice at home to Briidg’, they are surely capable of victory at home or away if they put their minds to it.
