29th March 09: Rugby Lions Under 14’s - 29 points v Lutterworth Under 14’s 7 points Both teams lost a number of players due to injury and unavailability but still played out a very competitive match in perfect conditions. Lutterworth pressurized Lions right from the start but just could not breach their impressive defence and as Lions came more into the game they forced their way up field for James Scott to break free and score the opening try. The remainder of the half was close fought and played out between the 22’s but the second half saw Lions dominate play to score 4 exhilarating tries with a brace each from Will Tuite-Dalton and Zac Baldwin and Harry Parsons and Dan Martin kicked a conversion each. Lutterworth’s speedy winger replied with a length of the field touchline run to score a converted try but by then the match was won and Lions were able to reflect on three very impressive performances in the last three weeks.

Rugby Lions U10s at Old Coventrians 75th anniversary Mini Festival
Played 5: Won 2, Drew 2, Lost 1
Tries for: 7 (Cave 3, Atkinson 3, Baillie 1) Tries against: 4
Difficult to pick out a man-of-the-match performance between Mikey Atkinson and Jack Cave as both scored three tries and both put in some tremendous tackles. Strong running from backs, Zak Wright, Bevan Garth and especially Tom Baillee and Jamie Cawardine was backed up with dogged defence from forwards Oliver Lee, Robert Jupp, Trafford Warwick and Ben Clayton. By the end of a splendid festival the half-backs Jack Wallace and Kieran Lorimer were both moving the ball out sweetly to the strong wings where Aitkinson, Bailee and Carwardine were proving most dangerous. The team were the only one to test a strong Old Leamingtonians side losing 2-0, with OLs going on to win the competition after winning all their games.
Rugby Lions U13s vs Earlsdon The Under 13s played Earlsdon away from home last Sunday and returned home winners despite a below par performance. Patrick Mills had a fantastic game scoring all 3 tries for the Lions. The first came from a charge down following a line out just outside the Earlsdon try line. The second came from a run from his own half with several Earlsdon defenders thrown by side steps. At half time the score stood at 10-0 and Rugby were easily the better side but were finding it difficult to capitalise on their superiority. In the second half one of the large Earlsdon centres broke through the Lions’ defence to bring the home side within 1 score. However just before the final whistle Patrick popped up again to score the killer try to take the final score to 15-0.
