Rugby Lions U10s v Earlsdon U10s Game 1: Lions Won 5 – 0 Lions experimental front row of Jordi Pocknell, Findlay Williamson and Tom Bailee scrummaged very well to secure lots of good quality possession for the team. This allowed Matty Tildesley and Bevan on his debut to make probing runs as Lions pushed for the line. Zac Wright made a pick up and go which flatfooted the Earlsdon defence. A swift passing move followed until Earlsdon infringed. At the resulting penalty, Jordi Pocknell barrelled over to score the only try of the game. In the second half the Lions defended well with some crunching tackles from Tom Bailee and Kieran Lorimer. Jordi Pocknell had to leave the pitch injured and was replaced by Robert Jupp who showed his driving play to good effect. Jobie linked with the other backs as Lions pressed for another try but could not breach the resolute Earlsdon defence. Game 2: Lions Won 10 – 0 In this second game the Lions welcomed Jack Wallace back after injury to play in his debut game for the team. Lions showed their intent when Mikey Aitkinson scored a try virtually from the kick off. Any response from Earlsdon was stifled by good tackling from Jamie Carwardine and Dominic Deery. Excellent scrummaging from Trafford Warwick, Oliver Lee and Robert Jupp kept a steady supply of possession for the team. Mikey Aitkinson, Jamie Carwardine and Ben Clayton all made good driving runs with the ball in their hands. This was capitalized upon when Ran Scott scampered over for a try. Lions had the confidence to try some new moves with variable success. Lions lead was never in danger as the Lions cruised to victory.
Rugby Lions U11s - 25 v Earlsdon U11s - 10 With some trademark crunching tackles Captain Ross Smilie made his farewell appearance for the club and led the Lions to victory. The game was well balanced in terms of possession but Lions had more power. Rory Wagstaff capped another fine performance with four tries. He was well supported in the pack by Oliver O’Connor, Will Davis, Liam Deery & Harry Turnock-Rogers the scrum was solid with the home team winning the majority of set pieces. Tom Doherty who scored a great try in the second half and Liam Wardle both volunteered for spells playing for the visitors well done lads. In the second half the Lions backs worked very hard in defence. Ed Hands and Rory Campbell with wingers Tom Smith and James Stewart all making good tackles and runs. Tackle of the day to full back Lewis Bloxam driving the opposition into touch as an Earlsdon try looked a certainty.
