Rugby Lions U13s - 66 v Lincoln U13s - 0

The Rugby Lions U13s got back into winning ways again last Sunday when they had a resounding 66-0 win over visitors Lincoln.

The match was split into 3 sections of 20 minutes and Rugby got off to a flying start in the first third with trys from Ciaran Wardle, Patrick Mills, Paddy Forde and Jake Scott. One of the tries was converted to take the score to 22-0.

In the second third Lincoln had more possession but Rugby’s defence was strong and with Patrick chalking up 2 more scores the gap was widening. There were more tries in this third from Ashley Moore and Oliver Robinson and with 1 conversion going over again the score going into the final section was 44-0.

Lincoln were keen to gain a consolation try and they looked set for a score when their centre intercepted a ball and bared down on the try line. However full back Ed Street put in a crunching tackle to thwart his attempt. Rugby then set out to hammer home their advantage with 2 more tries from Charlie Smith and further scores from Oliver Robinson and Chris Easton.

Rugby Lions U/14’s – 21 points v Lincoln U/14’s - 29 points

Rugby maintained continuity from the start for Will Tuite-Dalton to sprint clear and touch down but Lincoln, aided by some indifferent Rugby tackling, took the lead with 3 tries of their own.  Rugby finished the half on top but could not close the gap and at half time shuffled their players in an attempt to win more ball.  After a great re-opening spell Will Tuite-Dalton scored again but Lincoln’s talented fly half scored shortly after before Rugby stormed back for Ryan Masters to score again.  The reliable Dan Martin converted all Rugby’s tries.  Missed tackles were a problem but this is not normally Rugby’s weakness and when the squad returns to full strength these matches may well end in Rugby’s favour. Will Tuite-Dalton, Dan Martin and Ryan Masters were voted joint men of the match but in this hard fought team performance everybody worked to keep the game within arms reach.
