Lutterworth Under 13's - 5 v Rugby Lions Under 13's - 12
The U13's continued their impressive form with another
convincing win. Starting well, good aggressive forward play set
up Swifty for his obligatory try which was successfully
converted by Aaron. Much improved tackling, rucking & mauling
enabled the Lions to control the game, although over eagerness
resulted in a flurry of penalties, one leading to a try for
Lutterworth. Lions continued to play well in the second half and
a good pick up and feed from Tom to Kaedon enabled him to score
out wide. Unfortunately this was to be the last score of the
match. Lucas Gregory deservedly won man of the match for a fine
performance and everyone can see the results of the training
paddock. The U13's are always looking to strengthen their squad
and train every Wednesday evening from 18:15
to 19:30 on the Lions 2nd team pitch, all welcome.
Rugby Lions Under 14s vs Lutterworth 08 November 2009
The Under 14s suffered their third defeat at home last weekend when they lost to local rivals Lutterworth 38-0.
Despite the fact that Rugby had a larger all round team, Lutterworth were better drilled and used their backs to penetrate the Rugby defence. There were several occasions when the lads managed to get within inches of the Lutterworth line although they failed to hammer home the advantage and convert their hard work into points on the score board.
There was 1 instance of brilliance when Paddy Forde intercepted a ball and sprinted from his own 22 metre line towards the Lutterworth goal line. However he didn’t quite have the legs to outsprint the Lutterworth centre who caught him within spitting distance of his target to thwart the Rugby attempt.
The team now need to analyse their areas for improvement and improve their play for the next game so that they can reverse their fortunes.
Sunday 18th October Rugby Lions Under 15’s - 10 points v Lutterworth RFC Under 15’s - 36 points
Lion’s lost influential Captain Zac Baldwin in the warm up and a slow start cost them dear in this hard fought local derby as powerful Lutterworth dominated early possession to score 4 tries (two converted) for a 24 point lead within 20 minutes. Lions worked hard to get back in the game and Jackson Hughes powered over following home pressure but not for the first time, Lutterworth forced an overlap to score the final try of the half. During the break Lions sorted their defensive problems and produced a second half performance more in keeping with their early season form – attacking from the kick-off Lions re-cycled from a flowing backs move and a pin point cross kick was collected by Jonny Ure on the full to cross brilliantly wide out. The second half turned into a fine contest but Lutterworth remained strong and scored a final converted try to seal the win.
